🗺️ Map

🧭 Compass Tracker
Pick a saved artifact — the needle points to it and the distance counts down as you walk.
Hold the phone flat and walk the way the amber needle points. The distance counts down as you get closer.
🧲 Compass calibration
If the needle points the wrong way: first wave your phone in a slow figure-8 for a few seconds (recalibrates the sensor itself). Still off? Face true north (a known landmark or another compass) and tap Facing north — set — or stand where you can see the target, point the top of the phone at it, and tap Align. Either way the needle is corrected from then on.
Magnetic declination is applied automatically from your GPS position — Align only corrects device-specific error.

Group your marks by place — each yard, lot, lease or hunting area is a site. Set an artifact's Site when you mark it (or set the active site in the field), and every job stays organized on its own.

📍 Location & GPS
Marking and the compass need your device's location. Connect it once below — GPS works fully offline and in airplane mode; nothing is ever sent anywhere.
On a phone or tablet, tap Allow when prompted. If you blocked it before, tap the 🔒 / ⓘ in the address bar → Location → Allow, then press Enable again. Most common issue: the browser only prompts for location on a secure page — https://, localhost, or the downloaded file. Over plain http on a phone (a LAN address) it stays silent. The live site and your downloaded copy are both fine. A desktop without GPS hardware will show low accuracy.
